Bucket List

Last night we went to see the movie Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It was a feel good movie, had a great message, and entertained you along the way! Morgan Freeman narrated the movie and gosh I love his voice!!! Jack was hilarious and raw as usual. The two were a great pair! But the movie got me thinking, do I have a bucket list? Do I have a list of things I want to do before I die? I don't know. I think....I assume, like most people, that I will live a long and healthy life so I don't necessarily think about accomplishing things with too much urgency, I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. I am happy with my accomplishments so far in my life. I graduated from high school, college and graduate school. I'm happily married, own real-estate, have a great job and have done a little bit of travelling. Next on my list I obviously want to have kids, live comfortably and make memories with my family. I am not a dare-devil so sky-diving and bunji jumping are NOT on my list. I would love to go to Egypt some day to see the pyramids. I also think it would be cool to see the Mayan Ruins. Basically I want to continue to travel and see the world. I want to be a good mom and a good wife and feel like I've positively contributed to society. For now that is my generic list:)

Tag I'm It

Thanks Nikkel for Tagging Me. Ok, this tag is about 6 quirky things about me, so here we go!

1. I am a doodler! Don't get this confused with being an artist because I am nothing of the sort. I'm not sure when it started but I remember in college I would fill the margins of my note pages! Now, whenever I am in a meeting, a class, on the phone, or at my desk I have this compulsory need to doodle. I often write my name-multiple ways, the alphabet-upper and lower case and usually in cursvie, others peoples names, stars, hearts, 3-D boxes, flowers, smiley faces, and then I have these random doodles that I can't explain but fill my page.

2. I have a pretty large collection of perfumes and lotions/sprays. I love to smell good and I like to smell different every day. So every day I have the dilemma of what scent to choose. My method is composed of first determining the type of scent and trying to match it with the time of year but the 2nd factor and biggest decision maker is the color of the bottle or lid. For instance if I am wearing a lot of gold I will wear Hillary Duff's, With Love because it has a gold lid. If I am wearing blues or grays I wear Angel. If I am wearing something pink I choose one of my Escada flavors. 3. I am afraid to eat eggs that come straight from a farm. I only like to eat eggs that come in a carton and that I buy at the store. It makes no sense, I know, but there is something about the egg coming straight from the chicken to my kitchen that gross'es me out. Joe is obsessed with the idea of having chickens when we move to our new house. I hate the everything about the idea but he is beyond set on it.4. I always wear make up, no matter where I am going or what kind of day it is. I see it more as an art form, a way to express myself. I LOVE eye shadow. I collect it and have almost all the colors of the rainbow and then lots of colors that aren't in the rainbow either. If I were going to be on a desserted island though I would need to have mascara and lip gloss and I could survive:)5. I always crack my knuckles. I can't help it. I'm sure it started as a kid even though I was told by my Dad that it would make my knuckles big. I can't imagine not popping them, sometimes my fingers get stuck and I have to give them a good crack:)6. When walking with someone I like to walk on their left side. It feels more comfortable to hold hands with Joe that way and I think it has to do with the fact that I carry my purse on my left shoulder so it is akward if my purse shoulder is close to the person I am walking with.

Ok, so I don't know why but it was hard for me to come up with my quirks. It would probably be easier if someone else told me what they are:) Some of these were kind of a stretch but it was all I could come up with. So Tag you are it to Hilarry, Jilynn and Kami.

Oscar Night

To be honest I could care less about who won any awards last night. The movies that usually win I most likely never see. This was especially true for last night's award winners. I was pulling for Enchanted to win for Best Song:) With 3 of the 5 nominations coming from the movie I thought it was a done deal....sadly no. So why watch the Oscars you ask.....the gowns of course!!!! My top picks were: The Flawless Heidi Klum...loved the pink earrings by the way, The Gorgeous Jennifer Garner.....absolutely stunning, and The Fabulous Katherine Heigl!

Ryan Seacrest hosted the pre-show and of course did a great job! He is so funny! I love how quick-witted he is! The Gary Busey moment was classic! But as much as I love Ryan I HATED his suit. The brown and black did not work for me. However Giuliana Rancic looked divine!! I couldn't find a picture of her dress but it was lavender and absolutely perfect!

Great Results So Far

So this portion of American Idol is not my favorite. I love the auditions and Hollywood week and I love the top 12 singing on the big stage and the Ford commercials they do. So now we just have to make it through the top 24 being whittled down. I was quite pleased with who America voted off last week!!! So far my favorite guys are:

How adorable are they? Micahel Johns has the cutest accent but also has an amazing voice!!! He seems mature, confident and loves his wife:) David Archuleta is sweet beyond words and is soo young!!! He is a great performer, has a powerful voice and is so humble! Jason Castro plays the guitar when he sings and seems to have that IT factor.

So far my favorite girls are:
Alaina Whitaker reminds me of Carrie Underwood in looks and voice. She has a strong voice, a cute personality and she seems very comfortable performing. Asia'h Epperson is such a firecracker! She is a dynamic performer and is very infectious! Brooke White is another favorite. She is from Mesa so you have to love that! I also love how unafraid she is to let the world know who she really is. One of my favorite songs she sang was her Like a Star by Corinne Bailey Rae! I hope she sings it for the voting audience this season!

My least favorite contestant out of all of them is Amanda Overmyer. Ugh, everything about her annoys me. I don't like her voice and the song she sang last week was horrible! I couldn't understand a word she "sang." I think rockers can be successful on this show but she is not one of them!

Well, last week my Grandmother Lewis passed away. She lived a memorable life and went peacefully. I was fornuate to be able to take some time to go to Florida and be there for the Memorial Service! Despite the circumstances it was great to see everyone and wonderful to be able to spend some unexpected time with my family! It was nice to re-connect with Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that I haven't seen in years. We did a lot of eating, cleaning and shopping!!! I even was able to find 2 pairs of shoes to take to Italy! My brother and sister also convinced us to go to Busch Gardens on President's Day! That brought back some memories as I haven't been there since I was a kid! They actually have some pretty fun roller coasters there! Amazingly the crowds were light so the lines were quick for the rides!!!! While I was there I tried very hard to convince my family they need to visit AND/OR move to AZ!! Now I just have to find my Dad a high paying job!!! He is highly qualified so if you know about something great...let me know:)

That's Amore

Next month Joe and I will celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary!!! Every year we try to go on a fun trip to celebrate. We both love to travel! Our honeymoon was spent in Brazil, 1st anniversary in Costa Rica, 2nd anniversary in the Florida Keys, 3rd anniversary on a Mexican Riviera Cruise, and our 4th anniversary we have decided to spend in......ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always wanted to travel through Europe! My Dad went when I was a kid and I was so facinated by all the gifts he brought back for me. I loved hearing all his stories about the amazing places he visited. In school some of my favorite classes were History and Humanities. I can't wait to experience such beautiful landmarks 1st hand. Joe has also traveled throughout Europe before we met but he didn't make it to Italy so this will be a first for both of us!. Since Joe and I have been married we always talk about going to Europe but then we never do. We only have so much vacation time each year and it always gets used up on other trips. This year we are going to eat up the rest of our vacation time until September but I think it will be well worth the sacrifice! I feel bad that we haven't been able to spend as much time with my family this year but hopefully they can come visit us in AZ!!!!!

In addition to Italy we are going to stop in Florida on our way! Every year my Dad's side of the family tries to meet in Florida for a family vacation. Joe and I haven't always been able to make it so this year we are so excited that we are going!! We will fly in and out of Florida for our Italy trip. We can't wait to see everyone!

We Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet

Since we are moving soon we were asked to give talks today in church. When the bishopric asked Joe last week he said "sure" and suggested that Chris be the "youth" speaker:) So the three of us spoke today on prophets. The last time Joe and I spoke was when we moved out of our last ward about a year and a half ago. I love our church website!!! There are such great resources available so it made it very easy to prepare our talks!
I am so grateful to have a living prophet on the earth today. Often people ask me what makes our church different from others. I always explain that we believe in modern day revelation and that the word of the Lord didn't end with the scriptures. I feel so much gratitude to live in a time where we have a prophet of the Lord who guides and directs us.

As sad as I was to hear of the passing of President Hinckley I couldn't help but think how happy he must be to be reunited with his sweet wife. I am so grateful for all that Pres. Hinckley accomplished as the prophet. Joe and I were married in the Colubmus, Ohio temple which is one of the smaller temples that he commissioned. Making the blessings of the temple more accessible to more people in the world is truly a miracle. Joe often talks about the people in Brazil and how they would save up for practically a life time to travel to the temple just once. Now temples dot the map allowing more people to enter the House of the Lord. Our new prophet President Monson has always been one of my favorite apostles. He is so humble and his testimony is so strong. I love to hear him tell stories in such an endearing way. He has a gift of speaking and he captivates audiences as he shares the message of the gospel. I am excited to think he will be the prophet for this next generation of kids!

MLK Weekend Cont'd

Every year when we go to Utah we like to meet up with my old roommate Jocelyn and her husband Tony. They introduced us to a restaurant called Thai Village in American Fork. Yum!!! We keep trying to get them to come visit us in AZ, hopefully this year they actually will:) We sure wish we lived in the same state! We could have so much fun together!
Aww aren't we sweet

MLK Weekend

We have a slight camera problem. Before we got married we bought a very nice camera. Joe bought all the special lenses for wide angle, indoor/outdoor, etc. It takes beautiful pictures but it is pretty bulky. About 3 years ago I bought Joe a smaller digital camera for his birthday. It was a Sony Cybershot with a touch screen that he had been wanting. This was great UNTIL Joe smashed it when he was shutting the back door of his friends jeep:( When I bought the camera I purchased an extended warranty but evidently it doesn't cover that kind of damage:( So now we are stuck with lugging our bulky camera around or taking pics on Joe's Blackberry Pearl phone. When we went to Utah we didn't take our camera so I am trying to collect them from everyone else that went with us!

We went to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City. We didn't see any celebrities (sad) but we did get to see a movie! It was a family film directed by a local artist about Butch Cassidy. Definitely not what you expect from Sundance, and a little on the cheesy side but still cute. It reminded a lot of us of the Buttercream Gang if anyone has seen that!

From Left to Right-Jessica, Heidi, Becky, Sterling, Austin, Chris, ME (not sure where I am looking), Amy, Gabriel
Here is another pic from Park City. Most of us are looking up to Joe who is on a balcony taking the pic!

Welcome to the Valley of the Sun Shaquille O'Neal!!!! The Phoenix Suns made a trade this week and welcomed Shaq to the team! Hopefully he can take us to the NBA Finals this year!!!! I am tired of losing to the Spurs!!!!! BOO SAN ANTONIO!!!! (Sorry Eva Longoria:) )
I have always liked basketball but growing up I never really followed one team. Last year Joe and our friend Sterling decided they wanted to get season tickets to the Suns. At the time I thought the idea was a little crazy but now I love it!!! I don't go to all of the games but when I do I definitely have a blast!! I am proud to say I am officially a fan!!!!!
